Improvements on the 2025 Graduation Ceremonies

Dear Staff, Students and Graduandi,

Following the decision made during the Executive Management Committee meeting on 24 March 2025, MUT will be introducing a new tradition for graduates receiving MUT qualifications as per the practice at other universities. Capping by the Chancellor will be done only for graduates who will be receiving a Bachelors degree, an Advanced Diploma, a Postgraduate Diploma, or a Masters degree qualification. As required, graduates who will be receiving diploma qualifications will have their hands shaken to congratulate them on their success.

The rationale behind this decision is to streamline MUT ceremonies with national and global academic standards, and effect good practice. We believe that this new approach will enhance the overall graduation experience by creating a more intimate and efficient ceremony that celebrates each graduate’s accomplishments in a meaningful way.

The 2025 Graduation Ceremony will be held from 22 to 24 April 2025 at Dr Pixley ka Seme Hall.  We look forward to celebrating this significant milestone with all our graduates and their families. Thank you for your understanding and support as we implement this change.

Best regards
