MarComms is excited to announce that there will be a major revamp of the beloved GoodNewsFriday (GnF) newsletter. Since its inception in March 2011, the GnF has published an impressive 665 issues, becoming a cherished source of positive news and updates within the University community. However, the time has come for a fresh start, not just in terms of its look and feel, but also in its overall approach.
The revamp aims to re-focus, re-direct, and re-imagine the newsletter, aligning it more closely with the dynamic and evolving landscape of higher education. The new GnF will adopt a creative approach to capture a wider array of activities and voices within the University, making the content more meaningful and engaging for its readers.
The vision for the revamped GnF is to create a publication that not only informs but also inspires. The goal is to highlight the diverse and dynamic nature of the University community, showcasing achievements, innovations, and stories that resonate with readers. This transformation will involve a comprehensive redesign of the newsletter’s format, content, and frequency. To ensure the revamped newsletter meets the needs and preferences of its audience, MarComms will soon conduct surveys among the GnF readers. These surveys will seek input on several key aspects, including frequency, format, naming, etc.
“As we look forward to the future of the GnF, it is important to celebrate the many highlights from past issues. Over the years, the GnF has featured a wide range of stories, including celebrating the academic and extracurricular successes of students, such as scholarship awards, competition wins, and innovative projects. The publication has also been showcasing groundbreaking research and innovative teaching methods developed by MUT researchers and academics who are contributing to the advancement of knowledge and education. It has also acknowledged the hard work and dedication of University staff members through awards, profiles, and special mentions; and has covered major University events such as graduation ceremonies, anniversaries, launches and guest lectures, to mention just a few,” said Zama Sishi, Acting Senior Director at Marcomms.
This revamp to be revealed in a month or so represents an exciting opportunity to breathe new life into the GnF, ensuring it continues to be a cherished and relevant source of news and inspiration for the MUT community. The upcoming surveys will play a crucial role in shaping the future of the newsletter, and the University community is encouraged to participate and share their views.
