MUT management passes condolences to former Council Chair
It is with profound sadness that the Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT) community acknowledges the passing of Reverend Bekizipho Khulekani (BK) Dludla, a distinguished and esteemed friend of the University. Reverend Dludla departed this life in the early hours of 8 March 2025, at the respected age of 99.
Reverend Dludla’s contributions to the University and the broader community are of tremendous value. As the inaugural Chairperson of the MUT Council, a position he held until the year 2000, Reverend Dludla demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the advancement of education and the development of the Institution. His ordination exemplified his lifelong dedication to the service of humanity as a Reverend in 1955 and he played an instrumental role in the drafting of the United Congregational Church of Southern Africa (UCCSA) in 1967.
“During his tenure as Chairperson of the MUT Council, Reverend Dludla steered the University through its formative years. His visionary leadership and steadfast dedication were pivotal in establishing the foundational policies and frameworks that have shaped the institution’s growth,” said MUT Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Professor Nokuthula Sibiya.
Reverend Dludla was a close confidant of the University Founder, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, who passed away in 2023. His legacy of service, compassion, and leadership will be eternally cherished and remembered by all who know him.
The MUT Vice-Chancellor, management, staff, and students extend their deepest condolences to the Dludla family and friends during this time of bereavement. May Reverend Dludla’s soul rest in eternal peace.
